Em junho vocês vão lançar Warfront pela Napalm Records, e recentemente vocês lançaram o vídeo de “Together We Rise”, que foi fantástico.
Como foi a produção desse disco?
Oi! Claudio guitarrista aqui, prazer falar com você! A produção deste disco foi longa, mas divertida. Gostei de tocar e gravar todas as músicas e também passei um ótimo tempo gravando os vocais de Francesco no estúdio. A maioria das músicas foi escrita durante a pandemia, então nos encontramos no zoom em vez da vida real, e às vezes era difícil chegar ao estúdio por causa das restrições. Mas no final conseguimos e estamos extremamente orgulhosos deste disco.
O que podemos esperar do resultado final?
O disco ainda mantém o sentimento de irmandade que tivemos em Wintersaga, mas é mais orientado para a batalha, resultando em um som mais metal do que power metal. Aqueles que esperam hinos cativantes ficarão satisfeitos, mas também as pessoas que gostam mais de partes pesadas e composições elaboradas vão gostar deste álbum.
Warfront será a continuação de Wintersaga, álbum que ganhou o mundo ao receber belas críticas positivas. Qual é a evolução mais forte que você pode observar de um disco para o outro?
Warfront é mais pesado que Wintersaga, as guitarras são mais agressivas e a composição é em média um pouco mais complexa. Wintersaga foi feito principalmente de hinos anões com melodias cativantes, Warfront é mais sábio e representa os anões como guerreiros durões. O som e a sensação geral são semelhantes ao Wintersaga, mas não uma cópia.
Power Metal, Folk e por um momento você sente ainda um pouco mais suave de Death melódico, este será o álbum mais versátil da banda?
É bom que de alguma forma nos sintamos como melodeath às vezes, e na verdade é verdade porque não há nada que riffs como death metal, e nos inspiramos nisso para escrever os riffs. De qualquer forma, eu não acho que Warfront será um álbum tão versátil, existem muitos elementos diferentes fazendo seu trabalho juntos, mas se alguém quiser ouvir um álbum versátil do Wind Rose deve voltar alguns anos atrás e obter um Stonehymn ou um Wardens of the West Wind.
O tema do álbum pretende transmitir uma mensagem mais profunda?
O tema relacionado à guerra não tem mensagens mais profundas, apenas gostamos de batalhas de fantasia! Mas há uma música chamada “I am the Mountain” que tem um significado muito profundo, fala sobre todas as lutas que uma pessoa deve passar na vida, e eu recomendo que você confira essa música, porque Francesco fez um trabalho incrível tanto nas letras quanto nos vocais.

Qual é o segredo para se destacar no power metal?
Como é uma cena em que os clássicos não envelhecem, ficam com o vinho...
Esta nova onda de power metal que aparentemente estamos montando não é realmente power metal na minha opinião, é claro que tem aspectos de power metal, mas é mais como heavy metal sinfônico. Para se destacar neste gênero você tem que trabalhar sua imagem e focar em suas influências musicais e não apenas copiar o que os grandes do gênero já fazem há anos.
Quais são os planos para 2022? Além do registro, há mais novidades para sair?
Tours dentro e fora da Europa, e também o lançamento das versões remixadas e remasterizadas dos nossos 2 primeiros álbuns
Pergunta difícil, qual é a sua música favorita no Warfront e o que a torna especial?
I am the Mountain, o riff é tão pesado que às vezes quase soa como uma música de death metal, e tem uma ponte que me dá arrepios toda vez

In June you will release Warfront on Napalm Records, and you recently released the video for “Together We Rise”, which was fantastic.
How was the production of this record?
Hi! Claudio guitarist here, nice to talk to you! The production of this record was a long but fun one. I enjoyed playing and recording all the songs and I also spent a great time recording Francesco’s vocals in the studio. Most of the songs have been written during lockdown, so we met on zoom instead of real life, and it was difficult sometimes to reach the studio because of the restrictions. But in the end we made it and we are extremely proud of this record.
What can we expect from the end result?
The record still holds the brotherhood feeling that we had in Wintersaga but it is more battle oriented, resulting in sounding more metal than power metal. The ones who expect catchy anthems will be satisfied, but also people who are more into heavy parts and elaborated song writing will enjoy this album.
Warfront will be the follow-up to Wintersaga, an album that won the world by receiving beautiful positive reviews. What is the strongest evolution that you can observe from one disk to the next?
Warfront is heavier than Wintersaga, the guitars are more aggressive and the songwriting is on average a bit more complex. Wintersaga was mainly made of dwarven anthems with catchy melodies, Warfront is more battle-wise and represents the dwarves as tough warriors. The sound and the overall feeling are similar to Wintersaga but not a copy of.
Power Metal, Folk and for a moment you feel even a little softer of melodic Death, will this be the band’s most versatile album?
It’s good that we somehow feel like melodeath sometimes, and it’s actually true because there’s nothing that riffs like death metal, and we take inspiration from that for writing the riffs. Anyway I don’t think Warfront is going to be such a versatile album, there are many different elements doing their job together, but if one wants to hear a versatile Wind Rose album must go some years back and get a Stonehymn or a Wardens of the West Wind.
Is the theme of the album intended to convey a deeper message?
The war related theme has no deeper messages, we just like fantasy battles! But there is a song called “I am the Mountain” that has a really deep meaning, it talks about all the struggles one person must go through in life, and I highly recommend that you check that song out, because Francesco did an incredible job both on the lyrics and on the vocals.

What’s the secret to standing out in power metal? Since it’s a scene where the classics don’t age, they stay with the wine…
This new wave of power metal that we are apparently riding is not actually power metal in my opinion, of course it has power metal aspects but it’s more like symphonic heavy metal. To stand out in this genre you have to work on your image and focus on your music influences and not just copy what the big in the genre are already doing since years.
What are the plans for 2022? In addition to the record, is there more news to come out?
Tours in and outside Europe, and also the release of the re-mixed re-mastered versions of our first 2 albums
Tough question, what’s your favorite song in Warfront, and what makes it special?
I am the Mountain, the riffing is so heavy it almost sounds like a death metal song sometimes, and it has a bridge that gives me the chills everytime
