Você pode nos contar sobre a origem da banda e como isso reflete sua música ou identidade como grupo?
“Começamos em 2011 e depois acabou muito rapidamente. A vida entrou no caminho por muito tempo. E então recomeçamos novamente no final de 2018 e realmente começamos a correr em 2019. O grupo mudou muito desde 2011, mas é para melhor. Realmente desenvolvemos como músicos e escritores desde então. E você pode ouvir em todo o nosso material novo.”
Que gêneros ou estilos de música influenciam mais seu som e como você incorpora essas influências em suas músicas?
“Nossas influências vêm principalmente do lado hardcore/metal das coisas, mas também ouvimos pop, country etc, então pode haver algumas influências desses gêneros também.”
Há algum artista ou banda em particular que tenha tido uma influência significativa em sua música ou o tenha inspirado ao longo do caminho?
“Hatebreed, The Acacia Strain, Despised Icon são algumas de nossas bandas favoritas e definitivamente ajudaram a moldar nosso som. Seus álbuns mais antigos ainda têm o mesmo impacto hoje como tinham anos atrás, e é isso que queremos para nossa música.”
Você pode me explicar o processo de composição de suas músicas? Como você costuma colaborar na criação de música?
“Nosso processo de composição de músicas é um pouco diferente, trabalhamos com um produtor e é principalmente por FaceTime neste momento. Vamos colaborar juntos na escrita e continuaremos cortando/atualizando as novas músicas até estarmos satisfeitos com elas. Então, uma vez que todas as músicas estiverem prontas e estivermos satisfeitos com as demos, todos gravam suas partes finalizadas. Este método de escrita/gravação parece funcionar melhor para nós, já que temos horários muito ocupados com shows e trabalho. Não há muito tempo para escrever como uma banda completa no espaço de ensaio como muitas bandas fazem.”
Como a banda evoluiu desde sua formação, tanto musicalmente quanto pessoalmente?
“Formamos a banda em 2011, éramos jovens com todo o mundo à nossa frente, mas a vida entra no caminho, a tragédia acontece, e os fios da vida nos puxam em direções diferentes. Reformamos em 2019 com uma nova formação e um renovado senso de propósito para perseguir nossos sonhos da maneira que achávamos melhor. Nosso som passou de um som agressivo e rápido que se encaixaria perfeitamente na época. Para mudar nosso som para o hardcore com o qual crescemos, mas feito da maneira que queríamos.”
Como você aborda as performances ao vivo e o que espera que seu público tire de seus shows?
“Estamos constantemente tentando melhorar nossas performances ao vivo para levá-las a outro nível toda vez que nos vêem. Estamos constantemente trabalhando no set ao vivo, além de termos um cronograma de ensaios que acontece como um relógio. Até recentemente, adicionamos trilhas de apoio para trazer todos os sons de fundo que acontecem no álbum, então o show ao vivo está mais próximo de como é no álbum. Esperamos que, quando as pessoas nos virem, elas simplesmente se divirtam. Todos nós nos tornamos muito disponíveis e acessíveis durante e depois dos nossos sets. Amamos nossos fãs e adoramos conversar com eles.”
Qual foi o momento mais memorável ou gratificante na jornada do Choke Out até agora?
“O momento mais gratificante que temos como banda é reservar bandas mais novas conosco e vê-las arrasarem absolutamente. Reconhecemos que precisamos constantemente retribuir à cena que nos ajudou a crescer.”
Você pode falar sobre quaisquer projetos ou lançamentos futuros que os fãs possam esperar?
“Finalmente estamos de volta escrevendo. Esperamos um pouco porque sentimos que *Mechanized Order* realmente precisava de tempo para respirar. E queríamos ter tempo para realmente tocar essas músicas. Estamos aperfeiçoando nosso som neste novo material. Não posso falar muito sobre isso porque está nos estágios iniciais. Mas fique ligado.”
O que o sucesso representa para o Choke Out e quais são seus objetivos de longo prazo como banda?
“O sucesso é subjetivo. Mas queremos continuar em turnê e tocando em shows maiores. Continuar a ter grande presença nos shows que fazemos. Lançar mais mercadorias legais e tocar com mais bandas incríveis.”

Can you tell us about the origin of the band and how it reflects your music or identity as a group?
“We started in 2011, and then it ended very soon after that. Life got in the way for a long time. And then we restarted again in late 2018, and really hit the ground running in 2019. The group has changed a lot since 2011 but it’s for the better. We really developed as musicians and writers since then. And you can hear it on all of our new material.”
What genres or styles of music influence your sound the most, and how do you incorporate those influences into your songs?
“Our influences mainly come from the hardcore/metal side of things but we also listen to pop, country etc so there could be some influences from those genres as well.”
Are there any particular artists or bands that have had a significant influence on your music or have inspired you along the way?
“Hatebreed, The Acacia Strain, Despised Icon are some of our favorite bands and they have definitely helped shape our sound. Their older albums still hit the same today as they did years ago and that’s what we want for our music.”
Can you walk me through your songwriting process? How do you typically collaborate on creating music?
“Our songwriting process is a little different, we work with a producer and it’s mostly over FaceTime at this point. We’ll collaborate together with writing and we’ll keep cutting up/updating the new songs until we’re happy with them. Then once all songs are good to go and we’re satisfied with the demos, everyone records their finalized parts. This writing/recording method seems to work best for us since we have very busy schedules with shows and work. There’s not much time for writing as a whole band in the practice space like many bands do.”
How has the band evolved since its formation, both musically and personally?
“We formed the band in 2011, we were young with the whole world ahead of us but life gets in the way, tragedy strikes, and the threads of life pulled us in different directions. We reformed in 2019 with a new lineup and a renewed sense of purpose to chase our dreams in the way we saw fit. Our sound went from an aggressive fast sound which would have fit in perfectly at the time. To changing our sound to the hardcore that we grew up with but done in a way we wanted to.”
How do you approach live performances, and what do you hope your audience takes away from your shows?
“We are constantly trying to up our live performances to take it to another level everytime you see us. We are constantly working on the live set as well as we have a practice schedule that happens like clock work. We have even recently added backing tracks to bring forth all the background sounds that happen on the album so the live show is closer to how it is on the album. We hope when people see us that they just have a good time. We all make ourselves very available and approachable during and after our sets. We love our fans and we love talking to them.”
What has been the most memorable or rewarding moment in Choke Out’s journey so far?
“The most rewarding moment we have as a band is booking younger bands with us and watching them absolutely kill. We recognize that we need to constantly put back into the scene that brought us up.”
Can you tell me about any upcoming projects or releases that fans can look forward to?
“We are finally back writing. We held off for a while because we felt mechanized order really needed time to breathe. And we wanted to take time to really play those songs out. We are honing our sound on this new material. I can’t talk about it much because it’s in the early stages. But stay tuned.”
What does success look like for Choke Out, and what are your long-term goals as a band?
“Success is subjective. But we want to keep touring and playing bigger shows. To keep having great attendance at the shows we put on. To put out more cool merch and to play with more awesome bands.”
