Lionheart está comemorando o 10º aniversário do lançamento de “Welcome To The West Coast” – um álbum que, em suas próprias palavras, mudou sua trajetória como banda – com uma turnê europeia que começou em Berlim, Alemanha, em 14 de fevereiro. Suicide Silence, Kublai Khan TX e Paleface Swiss se juntaram aos californianos em uma noite memorável para os fãs de hardcore.
Paleface Swiss teve a tarefa não fácil de começar a noite. A banda de nu-deathcore de Zurique não se intimidou, e fez um ótimo aquecimento para o público, apoiada por uma boa quantidade de fãs que se reuniram nas primeiras fileiras. Riffs pesados, batidas marcantes e uma presença vocal perfeita deleitaram a multidão que balançou a cabeça e cantou junto durante a maior parte de sua performance de trinta minutos. O set incluiu “The Orphan”, “Please End Me” e “Nail To The Tooth”, entre outros. A banda se divertiu e o público também. Alguém na plateia jogou rosas no palco quando a banda saiu. No geral, foi dia dos namorados.
Depois de uma rápida troca de equipamentos, Kublai Khan TX subiu ao palco. Seu show começou com “The Hammer”, seguido por “Theory of Mind” e “Swan song”, com a multidão rugindo apaixonadamente para cada um deles. O vocalista Matt Honeycutt sabe como dominar o palco, comandando tanto a banda quanto o público com sua voz rouca característica e carisma. Os primeiros surfistas da multidão fizeram sua aparição e uma considerável parede da morte se formou sob as indicações de Matt. Os texanos fizeram a multidão sucumbir à sua presença poderosa, uma quebra de cada vez.
Assim que o Suicide Silence pisou no palco, foram aclamados por seus fãs. “Unanswered” foi a primeira música que tocaram, seguida por “You Only Live Once”. “Deutschland, wie geht’s dir?” perguntou o vocalista Hernán Hermida à multidão, que respondeu com um forte brado. Então ele encorajou os assistentes a levantarem o dedo do meio antes de tocar “Fuck Everything”. De repente, a sala fica escura, apenas dois refletores se movendo atrás da cortina, ela cai e os headliners fazem sua aguardada aparição. A multidão fica louca quando a banda começa a tocar, abrindo com “The Truth”. Esta turnê é o 10º aniversário do lançamento de “Welcome To The West Coast”, que eles tocaram na íntegra, assim como outros clássicos como “Vultures”, “Live By The Gun” e a cover de Beastie Boys “Fight For Your Right”. Poderia-se pensar que o público estaria cansado depois de três bandas de apoio, mas de forma alguma. Eles cantaram com todas as suas forças, surfistas da multidão continuamente navegando entre os presentes. Canhões de fogo flamejaram ao longo do repertório da banda e um canhão de confete foi disparado pouco antes do final. Ei, era um aniversário! Bem-vindo à Costa Oeste!
Uma noite incrível para começar sua turnê europeia, o som das quatro bandas estava impecável e o público estava totalmente envolvido desde o primeiro minuto.

Lionheart are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the release of “Welcome To The West Coast” – an album that, in their own words, changed their trajectory as a band – with a European tour which started in Berlin, Germany, on February 14. Suicide Silence, Kublai Khan TX and Paleface Swiss joined the Californians in a memorable night for hardcore fans.
Paleface Swiss had the not easy task of starting the night. The nu-deathcore band from Zürich was not intimidated at all, and did great warming up the audience, supported by a good amount of fans who gathered on the first rows. Heavy riffs, crunchy beats and a perfect vocal presence delighted the crowd that headbanged and sang along for most of their thirty-minute performance. The set included “The Orphan”, “Please End Me” and “Nail To The Tooth” among others. The band had a blast and so did the audience. Someone in the crowd threw roses at the stage as the band left. All in all it was Valentine’s day.
After a quick change of gear, Kublai Khan TX hit the stage. Their show started with “The Hammer”, followed by “Theory of Mind” and “Swan song”, with the crowd roaring to each of them passionately. Frontman Matt Honeycutt knows how to rule the stage, commanding both band and audience with his characteristic raspy voice and charisma. The first crowdsurfers made their appearance and a considerable wall of death formed under Matt’s indications. The Texans brought the crowd to succumb to their powerful presence, one breakdown at a time.
As soon as Suicide Silence set foot on stage, they were acclaimed by their fans. “Unanswered” was the first song they played, followed by “You Only Live Once”. “Deutschland, wie geht’s dir?” asked frontman Hernán Hermida to the crowd, which replied with a loud cheer. Then he encouraged the assistants to raise their middle finger before performing “Fuck Everything”. The band discharged an energetic performance with the audience headbanging during most of the set, Hermida joking and bantering in between songs for the amusement of the assistants and his bandmates. They played mostly oldies and only two songs from their latest release, “Remember… You Must Die”. Their show ended with the classic “No Pity For A Coward” from their first album “The Cleansing”, unleashing a human tornado in the moshpit.
Preparations for Lionheart‘s appearance took place behind a tarpaulin with one of the band’s emblems, West Coast rap coming out of the speakers. All in a sudden the room goes dark, only two spotlights moving behind the courtain, it drops and the headliners make their much awaited appearance. The crowd goes insane as the band starts playing, opening with “The Truth”. This tour is the 10th release anniversary of “Welcome To The West
Coast”, which they played in its entirety, as well as other classics like “Vultures”, “Live By The Gun” and the Beastie Boys cover “Fight For Your Right”. One could have thought the audience would be tired after three support bands, but not at all. They sang along with all their might, crowdsurfers continuously navigating the attendants. Fire cannons flamed along the band’s repertoire and a confetti cannon was shot short before the end. Hey, it was an anniversary! Welcome To The West Coast!
An amazing night to start their European tour, the sound by the four bands was impeccable and the audience was totally into it from the first minute.
