Em 17 de fevereiro de 2024, Mental Cruelty co-encabeçou uma turnê com Ov Sulfur no The Jewel em Manchester, New Hampshire. Este show apresentou Mental Cruelty como o headliner, seguido por Ov Sulfur, a banda de black metal depressivo e suicida Ghost Bath, e as lendas do brutal death metal bielorrusso, Extermination Dismemberment.
Além da programação principal da turnê, este show contou com uma variedade de bandas locais, divididas entre dois palcos no local. Juntando-se às bandas itinerantes no palco principal estavam a banda de Rhode Island, Edjin, e a banda de death metal de Boston, Graveborn.
Abrindo a série de bandas locais no segundo palco, a banda de deathcore de Massachusetts, Altar Ov Nex, trouxe a energia, seguida por Supplication, uma banda local de New Hampshire que toca metal extremo infundido com grind, slam, core e death. Após eles, veio a banda de “deathcore de dois passos”, No Hope, de Brockton, Massachusetts. Isso foi seguido por Smothered Sun, que incorporava um estilo black metal em sua música de death metal técnico/melódico. Mesmo que nesse ponto da noite o local não estivesse tão cheio devido às bandas principais se apresentando, The Idiot Flesh ainda trouxe energia com seu death metal influenciado por grindcore.
O primeiro ato principal da turnê, Extermination Dismemberment, entrou forte no show. A banda entrou com iluminação vermelha e um efeito sonoro assustador, que então se transformou em sirenes quando a banda começou a tocar sua introdução instrumental. O vocalista Vladislav Martirosov impressionou a plateia, abrindo com um de seus maiores sucessos, “Disemboweled Engorgement”. Os riffs cativantes, combinados com o estilo de brutal death metal da banda, tornam difícil não se mexer junto com a banda enquanto eles percorrem algumas de suas maiores músicas, destacando o mosh pit que se formou durante a introdução da música “Corpsepit”, tornando o pit o maior que eu havia visto durante toda a noite. Entre a energia e a energia vibrante de Vladislav, os vocais de apoio de Arseniy Kovalchuk, batidas intensas do baterista Denis Poluyan e articulação incomparável do baixista Viktor Kanashevich, esta não é uma banda que você vai querer perder quando eles se apresentarem perto de você.

O Ghost Bath, originário de Minot, Dakota do Norte, foi uma das bandas mais pesadas desta programação. A banda tocou algumas de suas músicas mais conhecidas entre breves intervalos melódicos, abrindo com “Sanguine Mask”, uma música que explora as ideias de autodestruição, desespero e a busca por uma fuga da dor emocional.
Muitas das músicas do Ghost Bath não apresentam letras, mas, em vez disso, podemos sentir as emoções intensas do vocalista Dennis Mikula através de cada grito que ele solta durante suas músicas. Isso é exibido grandemente em “Thrones”, que se refere ao ato de cometer suicídio submergindo-se em um corpo de água.
Destacada no set está “Hide from the Sun”, que originalmente contou com o vocalista muito conhecido, CJ McMahon. Esta música foi seguida por “Convince Me to Bleed” e “Death and the Maiden”, que contou com vocais convidados de Alex Thompson, da Death Support.
Co-encabeçando, Ov Sulfur tocou em seguida e, apesar do vocalista Ricky Hoover ser muito alto para o palco e ter que passar a maior parte do tempo em cima dos alto-falantes na frente do palco, a banda ainda conseguiu criar caos no local. Esta foi a música que enlouqueceu o pit, encorajando surfistas e mergulhadores de palco.
Não apenas Ricky traz energia ao palco, mas a seção instrumental do Ov Sulfur é uma parte importante de sua música. O guitarrista Chase Wilson, o baixista James William e o baterista Levi Xul criam aqueles sons icônicos de deathcore, misturados com um estilo black metal mais profundo, os riffs e batidas podem fazer qualquer um no pit balançar a cabeça junto com a música. Ov Sulfur concluiu seu set com seu maior sucesso, “Behind the Hand of God”.
De Karlsruhe, Alemanha, Mental Cruelty encabeçou esta noite da turnê ‘Beyond the Eternal 2024’. Após 4 anos sem fazer turnê na América do Norte, este foi um dos sets mais loucos da noite. Pulando direto para o set deles com “Midtvinter”, a faixa de abertura de seu último álbum ‘Zwielicht’, o pit instantaneamente começou, movendo-se ao ritmo dos vocais intensos, riffs de guitarra batidos e blast beats que não foram igualados naquela noite.
Pouco tempo depois de começarem o set, a banda recebeu David da Worm Shepherd, levando a plateia à loucura quando os dois se juntaram para tocar “King Ov Fire” de seu álbum de 2021 ‘A Hill to Die Upon’, essa música também apresenta um solo cativante do guitarrista Nahuel Lozano, e de longe o breakdown mais pesado da noite.
Ao longo do set, Mental Cruelty exibiu seus sons em constante crescimento, desde que a banda começou como uma banda de brutal slam, então rapidamente se transformou em uma banda de deathcore sinfônico blackened, ao longo de seu set, podemos vê-los recebendo influências de todos esses gêneros, especialmente ao tocar músicas de ‘Zwielicht’, como “Nordlys” e “Mortal Shells”.
Através de todas as suas músicas, a banda manteve a energia alta. O pit estava furioso durante todo o show e só cresceu enquanto eles tocavam sua discografia de músicas incríveis, deixando o melhor para o final. O show terminou com uma de suas maiores músicas, “Symphony of a Dying Star”.

On February 17, 2024- Mental Cruelty co-headlined a tour with Ov Sulfur at The Jewel in Manchester, New Hampshire. This show featured Mental Cruelty as the headliner, followed by Ov Sulfur, depressive suicidal black metal band Ghost Bath, and Belarus-slamming brutal death metal legends, Extermination Dismemberment.

In addition to the main tour lineup, this show featured a variety of local bands, split between two rooms in the venue. Joining the touring bands on the main stage were Rhode Island band, Edjin and Boston death metal band, Graveborn.
Altar Ov Nex Supplication No Hope
Smothered Sun Idiot Flesh
Kicking off the series of local bands on the second stage, Massachusetts deathcore band Altar Ov Nex brought the energy, followed by Supplication, a New Hampshire local band that plays extreme metal infused with grind, slam, core, and death. Following them was the “spinkicking two-stepping deathcore” band, No Hope, from Brockton, Massachusetts. This was followed by Smothered Sun, who incorporated a black metal style into their Technical/Melodic Death Metal music. Even though by this point in the night the room wasn’t as full due to the main bands playing, The Idiot Flesh still brought the energy with their grindcore-influenced death metal.
The main opener on the tour, Extermination Dismemberment came into the show strong. The band came on with red lighting and an eerie sound effect, which then turned into sirens as the band began to play their opening instrumental. Vocalist Vladislav Martirosov blew the crowd away, opening with one of their biggest hits, “Disemboweled Engorgement”. The groovy riffs, combined with the band’s slamming brutal death metal style make it hard to not move along with the band as they roll through some of their biggest songs, taking note of the dancing most pit that broke out during the intro to the song “Corpsepit”, making the pit the biggest I had seen all night. Along with these songs, the band also played their biggest song, “Omnivore” in which the band truly dives into the slamming aspect, creating a song that I would refer to as “bass-boosted slam”.
Between the energy and grooving energy from Vladislav, backing vocals from Arseniy Kovalchuk, intense beats from drummer Denis Poluyan, and unmatched articulation by bassist Viktor Kanashevich, this is not a band you will want to miss when they end up playing a show near you.

Ghost Bath, hailing from Minot, North Dakota was one of the heavier bands on this lineup. The band played some of their most known songs between short melodic breaks, opening with “Sanguine Mask”, a song exploring the ideas of self-destruction, despair, and the search for an escape from emotional pain.
Many of Ghost Bath’s songs do not feature lyrics, but instead, we can feel vocalist Dennis Mikula’s intense emotions through each scream he lets out throughout his songs. This is displayed greatly in “Thrones”, which refers to the act of committing suicide by submerging in a body of water.
Featured in the set is “Hide from the Sun”, which originally featured very well-known vocalist, CJ McMahon. This song was followed up by “Convince Me to Bleed” and “Death and the Maiden”, which featured guest vocals from Alex Thompson from Death Support.
Co-headliner Ov Sulfur played next, and despite vocalist Ricky Hoover being too tall for the stage, and having to spend the majority of the set standing on the speakers in front of the stage, the band still managed to create chaos in the venue. The pit was running wild as the band rolled through some of their most popular songs, even showcasing Hoover’s singing abilities when playing “I, Apostate” off of their 2023 album ‘The Burden Ov Faith’, leading into “Stained in Rot”, one of the biggest live songs. This was the song that sent the pit wild, encouraging crowd surfers and stage divers.
Not only does Ricky bring the stage energy, but the instrumental section of Ov Sulfur is a major part of their music. Guitarist Chase Wilson, Bassist James William, and drummer Levi Xul create those iconic deathcore sounds, mixed with a deeper black metal style, the riffs and beats can get anyone in the pit banging their head along with the music. Ov Sulfur concluded their set with their biggest hit, “Behind the Hand of God”.
From Karlsruhe, Germany, Mental Cruelty headlined this night of the ‘Beyond the Eternal 2024 Tour’. After 4 years of not touring North America, this was one of the craziest sets of the night. Jumping right into their set with “Midtvinter”, the opening track on their newest album ‘Zwielicht’, the pit instantly broke out, moving to the rhythm of the intense vocals, beating guitar riffs and blast beats that were left unmatched that night.
Shortly into their set, the band welcomed David from Worm Shepherd, sending the crowd into a frenzy as the two joined to perform “King Ov Fire” off of their 2021 album ‘A Hill to Die Upon’, this song also features an enchanting solo by guitarist Nahuel Lozano, and by far the hardest breakdown of the night.
Throughout the set, Mental Cruelty displayed their ever-growing sounds, since the band started as a brutal slam band, then quickly turned into a symphonic blackened deathcore band, throughout their set, we can see them taking influence through all of these genres, especially while playing songs off of ‘Zwielicht’, such as “Nordlys” and “Mortal Shells”
Through all of their songs, the band kept the energy high. The pit was raging the whole show and only grew as they played through their discography of amazing songs, leaving the best for last. The show concluded with one of their biggest songs, “Symphony of a Dying Star”.
