Esta é a declaração que encerra a biografia da banda Mother’s Cake em seu site. E se você assistir a um de seus shows, verá que eles não estão mentindo.

A banda austríaca foi formada em 2008, quando Yves Krismer (guitarra, vocais), Benedikt Trenkwalder (baixo) e Jan Haußels (bateria) se encontraram para tocar na cidade natal de Krismer, uma pequena vila nos Alpes tiroleses.

A música deles é influenciada por diferentes estilos, incluindo funk, krautrock, música progressiva e psicodélica. Eles mantêm um estilo experimental e surrealista, tanto nas composições quanto nas letras, com um tom claramente humorístico. Entre suas influências, podem-se citar The Mars Volta, RHCP, Bootsy Collins, The Beatles e Jack White.

Nas suas próprias palavras, eles querem trazer de volta o espírito do sexo, das drogas e do rock n roll, com uma abordagem verdadeiramente aventureira, espontânea e despreocupada à criação musical.

Eles ganharam diversos prêmios musicais na Europa, suas músicas foram incluídas na trilha sonora de um filme independente (Local Heroes, de Henning Backhaus, em cujas filmagens eles até participaram) e fizeram várias turnês pela Europa desde sua criação. Em janeiro de 2019, a banda chegou a fazer alguns shows na Índia, incluindo o Sula Fest, perto de Mumbai.

O álbum de estreia, Creations Finest, foi lançado em 2012 e não demorou muito para que a banda fosse reconhecida tanto a nível nacional como internacional.

Eles lançaram um total de cinco álbuns, sendo o último deles Ultrabliss, lançado em julho de 2024. Combinando estruturas progressivas e psicodélicas em um estilo improvisado, com uma sonoridade que lembra o Brit-pop. O álbum também tem uma forte abordagem cinematográfica (Clockwork é a primeira faixa, baseada no tema inconfundível de A Clockwork Orange) e adiciona uma boa variedade de sintetizadores e componentes eletrônicos.

Mother’s Cake at DesertFest Berlin, 15th May 2026

“People join our shows to plunge into musical rage. And there’s nowhere to hide. This is our promise to you. Come and see for yourself.”

This is the statement closing the bio of Mother’s cake on their website. And if you attend one of their shows, you will see they are not lying.

The Austrian band formed in 2008 when Yves Krismer (guitar, vocals), Benedikt Trenkwalder (Bass) and Jan Haußels (Drums) met to jam in Krismer’s hometown, a small village in the Tirolean Alps.

Their music is influenced by different styles, including funk, krautrock, progressive and psychedelic music. They keep it experimental and surrealistic, both in their compositions and lyrics, and with a clear humoristic tone. Among their influences one can count The Mars Volta, RHCP, Bootsy Collins, The Beatles and Jack White.

In their own words, they want to bring back the spirit of Sex, Drugs and Rock n Roll, with a truly adventurous, spontaneous and carefree approach to music making.

They have won different music awards in Europe, their songs have been included in an independent film sountrack (Local Heroes, by Henning Backhaus, in whose shooting they even participated) and have extensively toured Europe since their creation. In January 2019, the band even played a few shows in India, including the Sula Fest near Mumbai.

Their debut album, Creations Finest, was relased in 2012 and it did not take long for the band to be recognised both at national and international level.

They have released a total of five albums, being their last’s Ultrabliss, released in July 2024. Combining progressive and psychedelic structures in a jamming style, with that resembles Brit-pop. The record has as well a strong cinematic approach (Clockwork being the first track, built upon A Clockwork Orange unmistakable theme) and adds a good range of synths and electronic components.
