A banda High Desert Queen foi formada quando o vocalista Ryan Garney e o guitarrista Rusty Miller saíram em busca de uma seção rítmica para ajudar a finalizar algumas músicas nas quais vinham trabalhando. O destino sorriu para eles quando Garney conheceu o baterista Phil Hook (Monte Luna), que rapidamente se juntou ao grupo. Agora, com a chegada de Morgan Miller no baixo, o quarteto estava pronto para subir aos palcos.
A poderosa presença de palco e o som do High Desert Queen catapultaram a banda para a cena stoner/doom dos EUA logo após o lançamento de uma única música, quando Blasko (A&R da Ripple Music, baixista de Ozzy, Rob Zombie e Zakk Sabbath) entrou em contato com eles para contratá-los para sua gravadora. Seu álbum de estreia, intitulado “Secrets of the Black Moon”, foi lançado em 15 de outubro de 2021 com grande aclamação.
A banda encontra inspiração em uma ampla gama de influências musicais, do metal old school ao grunge, funk e doom, criando um som refrescante repleto de fuzz, melodias cativantes e muito groove. Mantendo o legado de bandas clássicas como Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains ou os mestres do doom Sleep, a banda apresenta seu próprio estilo com base no desert rock, mas seguindo seu próprio caminho.
“Palm Reader”, seu álbum mais recente, foi lançado em 31 de maio de 2024 pela Magnetic Eye Records e mostra a constante evolução da banda desde seus primórdios. Um álbum sólido, repleto de riffs pesados e impulsionado por uma sessão rítmica estrondosa, que combina perfeitamente com o trabalho vocal bem elaborado, que inclui vocais convidados de Emma Näslund.

The band will bring their “Texas Desert Rock” to the German capital on the opening day of the festival.
High Desert Queen was formed when singer Ryan Garney and guitarist Rusty Miller went looking for a rhythm section to help complete some songs they had been working on. The stars aligned just right when Garney met drummer Phil Hook (Monte Luna) who quickly came on board. Now with HDQ adding Morgan Miller on bass, the quartet was ready to take the stages.
High Desert Queen’s powerful stage presence and sound catapulted the band into the stoner/doom scene of the USA just after they had released one song, when Blasko (A&R of Ripple Music, Bassist for Ozzy, Rob Zombie, Zakk Sabbath) contacted them to sign them to his label. Their debut album titled “Secrets of the Black Moon” was released on Oct. 15th, 2021 to high acclaim.
The band finds inspiration in a wide range of musical influences, from old school metal to grunge, funk and doom, creating a refreshing sound drenched in fuzz, catchy melodies and lots of groove. Maintaining the legacy of classic bands like Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains or doom lords Sleep, the band delivers their own style on the cornerstone of desert rock, yet following their own path.
