YOB é uma banda de doom metal de Oregon, EUA. O vocalista e guitarrista Michael Scheidt fundou o YOB em 1996 com o baixista Lowell Iles e o baterista Greg Ocon, e eles gravaram seu primeiro LP em 2001, lançado em 2002 com o título Elaborations of Carbon.
Ao longo dos anos, a banda conquistou um grande número de fãs nos EUA e, posteriormente, no exterior, graças à sua autenticidade e crueza, no que poderíamos chamar de doom metal metafísico, já que a banda parece inspirar-se fortemente na existência e na experiência humanas. O YOB realizou extensas turnês pelos Estados Unidos, ao lado de bandas como Graves at Sea, Isis, Soilent Green, Uphill Battle, Tool e Ghostride, entre outras. Na Europa, eles se apresentaram no Roadburn Festival de 2010 e 2012, na Holanda.
Após trabalho constante e o lançamento de cinco álbuns, Clearing the Path to Ascend viu a luz do dia em setembro de 2014 e recebeu aclamação generalizada da crítica musical. No início de 2017, Scheidt sofreu um grave problema de saúde que quase lhe custou a vida. Essa experiência inspirou o próximo álbum do YOB, Our Raw Heart, lançado em junho de 2018.
Our Raw Heart é um álbum brilhante por sua originalidade, mostrando a evolução musical da banda, combinando riffs monolíticos e pesados, vocais emocionantes em todos os registros e uma base rítmica que poderia ser o batimento cardíaco da Terra. A evolução nos vocais, passando de grunhidos para cantos melódicos, merece uma menção especial, posicionando Our Raw Heart como o trabalho mais poderoso da banda e seu último lançamento.
Após turnês pelo México e pela Austrália em fevereiro deste ano, a banda subirá ao palco do DesertFest Berlin no dia de encerramento, em sua única data anunciada na Europa até o momento.

YOB, ONLY EUROPEAN SHOW IN 2026 ON DESERTFEST BERLIN, 16TH MAY
The doom metal band will play on the closing day of the festival in the German capital.
YOB is a doom metal band from Oregon, USA. Vocalist and guitarrist Michael Scheidt founded YOB in 1996 with bassist Lowell Iles and drummer Greg Ocon and they recorded their first LP in 2001, released in 2002 under the title Elaborations of Carbon.
Along the years, the band grew a huge following in the USA and later overseas due to their authenticity and rawness, in what we could call metaphysical doom metal, as the band seem to draw great inspiration from the human existence and experience. YOB has toured the United States extensively, alongside bands including Graves at Sea, Isis, Soilent Green, Uphill Battle, Tool, and Ghostride among others. In Europe they played at the 2010 and 2012 Roadburn Festival in the Netherlands.
After constant work and the release of five albums, Clearing the Path to Ascend saw the light in September 2014 and attracted widespread acclaim from music critics. In early 2017, Scheidt suffered a serious health condition which almost cost him his life. This experience inspired the next YOB album, Our Raw Heart, in June 2018.
Our Raw Heart is brilliant album for its originality, showcasing the bands music evolution, combining monolithic, gritty riffs, emotional vocals in all ranges and a rhythmic session which could be the heartbeat of the earth. The progression in vocals, shifting from growling to melodic chanting deserves a special mention, positioning Our War Heart as the band’s most powerful work and their last release.
After touring Mexico and Australia in February this year, the band will hit the stage of DesertFest Berlin on its closing day, on their only announced European date until now.
