RotoR foi formado em Berlim em 1998. Inicialmente um trio, os quatro membros atuais têm origens musicais diversas: do doom ao jazz, passando pelo metal e até por projetos de improvisação experimental.
Sua música é um stoner rock instrumental progressivo e psicodélico, com um groove pesado e mecânico característico. As composições da banda são não convencionais em termos de estrutura e arranjo, com breakdowns bem calculados, criando tensão e contraste, trazendo uma boa dose de requinte ao cenário stoner. Suas apresentações são hipnóticas e energéticas, e os álbuns lançados ao longo de seus 20 anos de carreira musical lhes renderam aclamação tanto dos fãs quanto da crítica.
Eles realizaram extensas turnês pela Europa e também embarcaram em turnês pelos EUA, tocaram no lendário Roadburn Festival na Holanda em 2001 e no Duna Jam na Italia em 2008.

Despite not being currently on tour, the band will join the festival on its second day.
RotoR formed in Berlin in 1998. Initially a trio, the current four members come from diverse musical backgrounds: from doom to jazz, metal, doom and even experimental improvisation projects.
Their music is progressive, psychedelic instrumental stoner rock, with a distinctive heavy, machine-like groove. The band’s compositions are unconventional regarding structure and arrangement, with well-calculated breakdowns, creating tension and contrast, bringing a good amount of finesse to the stoner arena. Their performances are hypnotic and energetic, and the albums released in the span of their 20 years of music making have gained them acclaim by music fans and critics alike.
They have toured Europe extensively and embarked as well in tours in the USA, played the legendary Roadburn Festival in the Netherlands in 2001 and Duna Jam in 2008.
